Burn Baby, Burn, by Victoria Kennefick
Did you know
that in Dante’s Inferno
those who are false
end up in the eighth circle?
I like to imagine you there
in that evil orbit
weighed down and whipped
while I sit mutely on the bus
and it’s still dark outside.
Thursdays are dull
usually I’m more forgiving but
darling, as the wheels go round
and round I’d thrill to hear
your bones crunch underneath.
