Dingle Literary Festival open for submissions for 2022
Dingle Literary Festival is calling for publishers to submit event ideas and authors to take part in the festival, which will be held on November 18th, 19th and 20th.
“The 2022 Dingle Literary Festival will be our biggest and best yet,” festival director Sheila O’Reilly told Books Ireland. “We are doubling the number of venues…Our programme of events in Irish is expanding and we are delighted to be partnering with the refurbished Ionad an Bhlascaoid to host events in Irish.”
The festival will pay an appearance fee, reasonable travel expenses and provide accommodation. The events will take place in person in and around West Kerry, and many of the events will be livestreamed.
Dingle Literary Festival was established in 2019 to create an annual book festival to bring readers and authors together in West Kerry. There are events in both Irish and English and range across all genres and age groups.
The 2021 festival featured 32 author events and nine writers’ workshops. There was a fantastic line-up of author events, including Carlo Gébler in conversation with Sara Baume, What White People Can Do Next with Emma Dabiri in conversation with Christina Collins, and Look, It’s A Woman Writer with Éilis Ní Dhuibhne and Evelyn Conlon.
Several of last year’s events are available to watch or listen to on their website.
Workshops included ‘Writing Your Way Out of the Box: A Fiction Workshop’ with Jan Carson and ‘Poetry in the Making’ with Enda Wyley. Three online seminars gave an insight into the publishing world, hosted by Conor Nagle of HarperCollins Ireland, literary agent Sheila Crowley of Curtis Brown, and publishing, marketing and content strategist Katie Roden.
