Exciting job opportunity with The Munster Literature Centre
Do you have a keen interest in contemporary literature with a knowledge of the writing community in Ireland? Are you motivated, with strong IT and social media skills? The Munster Literature Centre is seeking the right person for the position of Operations Officer, a role which will involve social media, book-keeping, and data processing.
The Munster Literature Centre was founded in 1993 and is the home of The Cork International Poetry Festival, the Cork International Short Story Festival, and Southword literary journal. The Centre offers workshops, residencies, and mentorships, as well as running regular writing competitions, including The Seán Ó Faoláin International Short Story Competition.
The ideal candidate will have strong numeracy skills, be proficient in Excel, and will be comfortable with regular detailed manipulation of data. Crucial for this role is a close interest and knowledge of literature and the writing community in Ireland, alongside fluent written and spoken English.
This is a full time position with a salary of €28,000, with on the job training as required. The position will involve 35 hours a week, with the opportunity of twice weekly hybrid working from home days after a probationary period of six months. Regular work is during office hours Monday to Friday, but there will be occasional evening and weekend work, particularly during the delivery of festivals, for which time off in lieu can be claimed.
A proficiency in the Irish language is welcome although not essential. A twelve month contract will be offered with the prospect of permanent employment.
