Writing.ie announces the An Post Irish Book Awards Short Story of the Year 2022 Longlist
The longlist for the An Post Irish Book Awards Short Story of the Year 2022 has been released and this year’s judges will be hard pressed to pick just one winner from this talented bunch!
Any An Post Book Awards enthusiast will be thinking that the Short Story award may seem like it’s out a little earlier than any of the other categories, and they’d be right. Because the Short Story award requires a longlist, unlike the other categories, it’s announced earlier.
Then, from this longlist, the judges will choose the An Post Irish Book Awards Short Story shortlist which will be posted in October along with the shortlists from all the other categories.
The shortlisted stories will appear on Writing.ie, which then leaves it up to the readers to decide who will win the An Post Irish Book Awards Short Story of the Year 2022!
The line-up of judges this year is stellar, featuring Bob Johnston, from the iconic Gutter Bookshop, literary agent Simon Trewin and Rachel Donoghue, who featured on the Hennessy New Irish Writing Award shortlist in 2013 and 2014 and won New Irish Writer of the Year in 2017.
There was a huge range of Irish talent submitted for consideration this year and the award received submissions from many literary magazines and Irish and international publishing houses.
The judges’ task is now to make their selections from the following longlisted authors, which include Books Ireland contributor David Butler and guests on our Burning Books podcast Nuala O’Connor and Wendy Erskine.
