Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan first guest editor for Trumpet

Poetry Ireland announces first guest editor of Trumpet

Poetry Ireland is delighted to announce that Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan has been appointed as the first guest editor of Trumpet, its literary pamphlet packed with reviews, essays, and strong opinions.

Commenting on her appointment, Chandrika said:

“I am honoured to be the first guest editor for Poetry Ireland’s Trumpet, and I am looking forward to working with writers on my chosen theme of ‘Fear and Release’. I believe that the space between these two emotional states forms the tension that becomes the tightrope for human existence.

“I feel it particularly speaks to our experience right now as we fear what is happening in the world, while being trapped in claustrophobic situations with a strong desire for release. I want to speak to this tension through a number of lenses, including but not limited to the lenses of motherhood, immigration, and queer identity. My intention is that the voices in this issue will be diverse and gently anarchic, brimming with an energy that embraces the darkness while baring its teeth. I hope I will do those voices justice.”

Chandrika is currently Marketing and Development Manager with Fishamble Theatre Company, and is herself a published poet. She will edit Issue 9 of Trumpet, due for publication and launch in the autumn.
