Over the past 18 months, the Irish literature sector has weathered the storm of pandemic uncertainty, with readers across the country finding comfort and escape in the pages of great books.
Launching November 18th, Deliver the Joy of Reading invites shoppers to keep this momentum going by buying a great Irish children’s book this Christmas.
“Buying an Irish book this Christmas creates a chain of happiness, from publishers to authors and illustrators, local booksellers to readers,” said Elaina Ryan, CEO of Children’s Books Ireland. “Our latest recommended reading guide is packed with excellent children’s literature from across the island of Ireland, including many new voices published in 2021. We hope these books will be found in stockings, under trees and, most importantly, in readers’ hands this Christmas.”
With 144 book reviews in English and Irish for children and young people up to 18 years of age, there’s plenty of options for the perfect Christmas gift.
After a record year for débuts in children’s literature, established authors Chris Haughton, Oliver Jeffers and Laureate na nÓg, Áine Ní Ghlinn are joined by newcomers Adiba Jaigirdar, Flora Delargy, Nick Sheridan and nearly forty others.
