History on a Stamp – An Post and The Decade of Centenaries (2013 – 2022)

This limited edition book captures significant historic events within the State’s commemoration of the Decade of Centenaries, as told through the annual stamp programme, created by An Post, on behalf of the State.

The book includes a long form essay by Art & Cultural Historian, Dr. Emily Mark Fitzgerald, and features a gallery of 26 stamp issues and 55 stamps. Topics begin with the commemoration of the 1913 General Lockout and end with the Death of Erskine Childers in 2022.

The narrative is beautifully presented in six short, themed chapters, linking An Post’s creative response through stamp design to this important era, while exploring both our sense of national identity and our present.

Only 1500 copies of the book have been printed, meaning it would be a considered a treasured collector’s item for friends and family who enjoy history, art and Irish culture.

Irish Stamp Yearbook 2022

Every year, An Post’s annual Irish Stamp Yearbook is eagerly awaited. This limited-edition publication contains superb imagery, graphics and background on the 14 special and commemorative stamps issued during 2022 as well as one of each stamp carefully mounted within the book.

This year’s edition is particularly pertinent as it features stamps marking dramatic events in Ireland 100 years ago, including Irish independence, the onset of Civil War and the death of notable leaders. In his introduction, Felix M. Larkin, Chairman of the Philatelic Advisory Committee, points out the importance of wider, contemporary aspects of Irish culture and identity in our national stamp programme every year.

As a result, there is much for readers to look forward to, including hugely popular stamps marking the centenary of the publication of Ulysses, colourful urban art and Irish women sports stars.

The book is also available in a luxury edition which includes gold embossing and edging, a full leather cover and matching leather slip case. To find out more, visit the An Post website.

Both books are available to order now online and a 10% discount will be offered when bought together.
