Tom Mac Intyre, award-winning playwright, poet and Aosdána member, has died at the age of 87.
Probably best-known for The Great Hunger, his stage adaptation of Patrick Kavanagh’s poem, he was also the winner of The Irish Times/ESB Irish Theatre Best New Play Award in 2002 and the Stewart Parker Prize in 1998 and his writing was published by Faber, New Island, Lilliput Press and Gallery Press.
Mac Intyre is survived by his wife Celine and children, Deirdre, Darragh, Donal, Desmond and Tadhg.
