Liverpool University Press are launching a new academic book series about Irish literature, overseen by series editors Eve Patten, Frank Shovlin and Tom Walker.
Liverpool Studies in Irish Literature will offer insights into a diverse range of texts, themes, moments, figures and networks in Irish literature from c.1800 through to the present. Titles will reflect the wealth of innovative and exciting critical, historical and biographical research currently being conducted into Irish literature, drawing on new methodologies and perspectives, as well as the best traditions of literary scholarship. The series editors are looking for proposals from both early-career and established scholars for monographs on under-examined writers, works, genres, issues and ideas in Irish literary history, and will also consider fresh approaches to more well-established movements and figures.
Frank Shovlin
Frank Shovlin is Professor of Irish Literature at the Institute of Irish Studies, University of Liverpool. The other two series editors are based at Trinity College Dublin, where Eve Patten is Professor of English and Tom Walker is the Ussher Assistant Professor in Irish Writing.

Professor Shovlin, speaking on behalf of the series editors, said “We are delighted to be launching our new Liverpool Studies in Irish Literature series. The series aims to publish rigorous and scholarly new monographs that will expand and challenge current understandings of the Irish literary field. We will be happy to consider books on established canonical figures such as W.B. Yeats and James Joyce, and we will be equally comfortable with considerations of less extensively examined issues and ideas in Irish literary history.”
