Children’s Books Ireland curate a reading list for empathy and understanding

Together With Refugees

As children from Ukraine are welcomed into schools across Ireland, Children’s Books Ireland have put together a reading list of books across genres and ages which will not only build empathy and understanding, but inspire a life-long love of reading.

Whether you are a parent or guardian looking for a specific book geared towards your child’s interests, or a teacher researching a particular topic, there is a huge variety of great book recommendations for all ages, which all aim to foster understanding of people fleeing their homes.

“We are so pleased to continue our important partnership with UNHCR for World Refugee Day. Every year, we work together to highlight excellent stories that help young readers to understand and build solidarity with those forced from their homes. This year these books feel more relevant than ever.”

Children’s Books Ireland

Children’s Books Ireland in partnership with the UNHCR—The UN Refugee Agency—produced this resource with the expert assistance of Claire M.Dunne, complemented by the work of Inis magazine and Recommended Reads Guide reviewers.
