Dalkey Creates Poetry and Short Story Prize (€1000 prize). Deadline extended: Sun Aug 16

Amazing opportunity and cash prizes of €1,000 up for grabs for this year’s Dalkey Creates Short Story Competition, and Dalkey Poetry Prize.

The Dalkey Short Story Prize and the Dalkey Poetry Prize are part of the annual Dalkey Creates Writing Festival. The 2020 festival has been cancelled but the competitions are going ahead and are open for entry.  

Both prizes are now open for entries and welcome writers from all over the world, writing in the English language. A piece may be entered provided it has not been entered previously or published elsewhere.  There is no restriction on theme or style. For the Story Competition the maximum number of words is 2000. For the Poetry Competition, the maximum number of lines is 30. The first prize award is €1,000 per competition.

Dalkey Creates Festival Director, Anna Fox stated her objective for setting up this writing festival as ‘encouraging and supporting writers, and providing a platform for their work. Our Poetry and Short Story Prizes are a great opportunity and incentive for writers to complete and polisha piece of work.’  

In addition to the 1000 Euro prize money, winners of the competitions will be published online by Books Ireland.
