Hinterland Festival of Literature and Arts

The Hinterland Festival of Literature and Arts, Kells, Co. Meath, returns on 27–30 June. The packed programme contains great books, great writers, historians and musicians. Novelists to watch out for include John Boyne, Hugo Hamilton, Olivia Kiernan, Jane Casey, Christy Lefteri (The Beekeeper of Aleppo) and Stacy Halls(The Familiars). Sinead Gleesonwill discuss with Liz Nugent her book Constellations. Former British MP Chris Mullinreturns with his new book The Friends of Harry Perkins. Current political concerns will be explored by journalists Luke Harding, Fintan O’Tooleand Paul Masonto decode Trump, Putin, Brexit, the financial crisis and the assault of neo-liberalism. Jim Fitzpatrick will talk about his iconic portrait of Che Guevara, and Horslips members JimLockhartand Barry Devlin will reminisce about 50 years of rock n’ roll. Nick Hewerwill tell us what it’s like to be on Countdown and The Apprentice.
