Two Irish authors longlisted for Women’s Prize for Fiction
Two Irish authors have been longlisted for this year’s Women’s Prize for Fiction, along with six British and five American authors, one Canadian, one Barbadian and one Ghanaian/American.
Naoise Dolan has been nominated for Exciting Times, one of six debuts on the list, and Kathleen MacMahon for her critically acclaimed third novel, Nothing But Blue Sky.
The two Irish authors are on a list that includes the likes of Ali Smith, Amanda Craig, and Dawn French. The chair of this year’s judging panel is 2019 Booker Prize winner Bernardine Evaristo, along with Elizabeth Day, Vick Hope, Nesrine Malik’, and Sarah-Jane Mee.
Last year’s winner was also an Irish author, Maggie O’Farrell for her novel, Hamnet. The shortlist of six books will be announced on 28 April and the winner of the £30,000 prize will be announced on 7 July.
