A new audiobook collection of the complete tales of Beatrix Potter is to be released this coming August on Audible, to be read by Ireland’s own Andrew Scott. Mrs Tiggy Winkle, Jemima Puddle Duck, Peter Rabbit and all the usual suspects will feature.
The first of the tales of Beatrix Potter was famously self-published in 1901, before going on to make a +100 million copy mark on the children’s book sector, provide inspiration to budding children’s authors everywhere and, as a by-product, give a slew of modern self-publishing firms instantly persuasive marketing material.
The rights to the text and illustrations of the Beatrix Potter stories are now owned by Frederick Warne & Co, who ultimately published Potter after initially rejecting her proposal. Frederick Warne & Co is now an imprint of Penguin Random House.
Excitement is building for this new release, in particular to Jemima being portrayed with a new frisson of danger by one of the most interesting actors of our generation.
