The National Library of Ireland will officially unveil its new book repository on Thursday, 27th June 2019. To mark this, the Library would like to invite journalists to join theDirector and the Head of Development for a tour of the new facility at 11am. The repository is located in its main building on Kildare Street, Dublin 2.
The state-of-the-art facility, which is not open to the general public, will provide modern and safe storage for the national published collections. It contains 4.5 kilometres of shelving filled with 200,000 books. The work was funded under the Government’s Project Ireland 2040 programme, and the opening marks the completion of phase one of the Library’s multi-million euro capital development project.
