This part-time role will involve extensive work with diverse communities within the North inner city, as well as time to engage in their own creative work.
In September 2016, Poetry Ireland moved into its beautiful new home in Dublin’s Parnell Square. The organization is now introducing an ambitious neighbourhood project which will engage with the many communities who call this fascinating area of the city home. As part of this exciting new initiative, we wish to appoint a poet in residence for a two-year period. This part-time role will involve extensive work with a number of diverse communities within the north inner city. These groups will include the SAOL project for women and the Pathways Centre for former prisoners, as well as schools, libraries, youth and adult groups to be confirmed.
The selected candidate will have a dedicated space within Parnell Square. The role involves a commitment of 10 hours per week which will include three hours public engagement from the poet in residence, four hours input from associate writers and artists, and three hours dedicated to the poet’s own creative work.
Applicants are invited to submit:
- A curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages)
- Examples of previous artistic work, with specific reference to work in the community
- A proposal outlining artistic ideas and approaches (maximum two pages)
- The names and contact details of two referees
Please submit your application to director@poetryireland.ie before Friday 16 August, 5pm.
