Publishing Ireland hosts a two day proofreading and copy-editing course
Keen to brush up your skills in proofreading and copy-editing? Register for Publishing Ireland‘s two day course which runs on June the 19th and 20th, led by industry professional Dominic Carroll.
Day one of the course will cover things like hard-copy and digital proofreading, checking for spelling and grammatical errors that slip through the copy-editor’s net, making tweaks and tucks to improve the flow or comprehension of text, and checking the typesetter’s work (table of contents; table of figures; page numbering; running heads; table and figure numbering, correct placement of images, and so on). It will also cover author queries and offer tips and tricks for accuracy and efficiency.
Day two focuses on copy-editing, offering guidance on ensuring clear, clean, and correct content, avoiding contradiction in the text, steering clear of legal or inclusivity problems, and making sure copy is thoroughly prepared for trouble-free typesetting. The course will also cover things like indexing, illustration, printing, and plagiarism.
