The Write Time Festival of Creativity & Writing

The Write Time in the Carnegie Free Library, Swords, Co. Dublin

This coming weekend sees a showcase of brilliant author events and conversations over Friday and Saturday (14 & 15 November) in the Carnegie Free Library, Swords, as part of The Write Time Festival of Creativity & Writing 2024.

The programme is curated by Kevin Curran, author of Youth (The Lilliput Press), and on Saturday you’ll find him in conversation with Olivia Fitzsimons, author of The Quiet Whispers Never Stop, and with short story virtuoso Wendy Erskine, whose debut novel The Benefactors comes out next year.

Kevin will also be talking about the many paths to becoming a writer as he chats with local authors Paula Guildea and Patrick Bentley to discuss their writing experiences.

Talking about the weekend, Kevin said that The Write Time festival has been running for some years, and has been a great success, but this year the idea was to hold a two day ‘mini-festival’ with high profile writers so the people of Fingal could have access to the best of the Irish book world.

“Fingal Library asked me to curate this weekend, with the aim of making writing and ideas available (for free) to all the people of Fingal to enjoy. There are so many brilliant literary festivals around the country, it is only right the people of Fingal get to enjoy some high profile writers and events too! You can dip in and out, or you can stay for the day—it’s up to you!”

The fantastic line-up includes Sinéad Gleeson, Claire Hennessy in conversation with Claire Kilroy, Christine Dwyer Hickey in conversation with Katherine Lynch, Katriona O’Sullivan in conversation with Clodagh Culligan and poetry performance by David Gilna.

All the events are free (but book your tickets here to ensure a space).
