Top 20 Borrowed Books in 2019

Most Borrowed Books of 2019 Revealed in Lead Up to National Library Open Day, 29th February.

The Local Government Management Agency (LGMA), in the lead up to the National Library Open Day, 29th February, have published the details of the 20 most borrowed books (including separate lists for eBooks and Audiobooks) and authors from Irish libraries of 2019.

Out of 20, 18 were children’s books, including Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Double Down. The two other books for adults were Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and Skin Deep. On a separate list for adult titles, James Patterson remains popular at the top while in eBook and Audiobook lists Michelle Obama’s Becoming topped the charts. 11 of the top adult books were written by Irish authors while 5 of the most popular adult authors are also Irish.

National Library Open Day invites people of all ages and interests to visit a library and experience what it has to offer for free. It’s the perfect opportunity for the staff to show visitors around, demonstrate online services and sign them up for a library card if they don’t already own one.
