Eason buys Dubray Books

Eason have today announced the acquisition of Dubray Books. According to The Bookseller reporting of the announcement, the plan is to retain the Dubray brand and current management team. Maria Dickenson, Managing Director of Dubray, will rejoin the Eason Management team. Dickenson had previously been Head of Book Purchasing at Eason before joining Dubray as MD in 2014.

In 2018 Eason began a programme of selling off their retail properties around Ireland, which was estimated to generate up to €20 million for reinvestment in their retail business. This sale-and-lease-back arrangement included a plan to sell the flagship Eason O’Connell Street store.

In January of 2019, Eason, who aside from their retail business are Ireland’s largest book wholesaler, announced the sale of their St Margaret’s warehouse to property fund iPut for €19 million.
