Walks and talks are on the spring menu with Dublin Book Festival Spotlight
The Dublin Book Festival Spotlight is well underway with its spring programme, and there are some lovely events to see you into the summer (yes, summer is on the way, despite the Irish weather doing its best to signal otherwise!).
On April 10 join author and performance psychologist Gerry Hussey as he discusses his groundbreaking new book The Freedom Within (Hachette Ireland) with broadcaster Clare McKenna at 1WML in the Windmill Quarter.
The Freedom Within offers insight into the truth about human emotions, showing us how we can achieve life-changing emotional health and discover the power of emotional choice.
Gerry will discuss how his book will help readers to identify beliefs that could be hindering them, and learn to transform emotional reactions into conscious emotional responses. Discovering strong emotional health can be a first step in better managing life’s challenges, and finding inner peace.
The event will be followed by a Q&A session where audience members will be able to put their questions to Gerry. You can book tickets here.
On May 2nd, writer and ecologist Donna Mullen will be leading a walk around the beautiful National Botanic Gardens at Kilmacurragh, based on her forthcoming book Make Your Home A Nature Reserve (The O’Brien Press).
In Make Your Home A Nature Reserve Donna explores the many ways in which we can invite nature into our home. Join her on this special walk as she discusses the amazing secret lives of Ireland’s wildlife – from bees and butterflies to hedgehogs and even bats – and the ways in which we can provide a safe space from them in and around our own homes, in a time when natural habitats are coming under increasing pressure. Book tickets here.
Along with their spring programme, Dublin Book Festival are again partnering with the Irish Writers Centre on the Foundation Programme, an initiative for emerging writers typically underrepresented in Irish literature. This programme will involve a number of supports for emerging writers, including a free course, mentorship, and a day of curated talks from professionals in the Irish literary industry, as well as an opportunity to perform a new piece of writing at this year’s Dublin Book Festival.
Keep an eye out for further information on the Foundation Programme, which will be announced in May on the Irish Writers Centre and Dublin Book Festival websites.
