The shortlist for the Booker Prize 2019 has been announced, and this year’s shortlisted titles are:
The Testaments, by Margaret Atwood (Chatto & Windus)
Quichotte, by Salman Rushdie (Jonathan Cape)
Ducks, Newburyport, by Lucy Ellmann (Galley Beggar Press)
10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World, by Elif Shafak (Viking)
Girl, Woman, Other, by Bernardine Evaristo (Hamish Hamilton)
An Orchestra of Minorities, by Chigozie Obioma (Little Brown)
There is no place on this year’s shortlist for the sole Irish contender, Kevin Barry, whose Night Boat to Tangier has been featuring strongly in the Irish bestseller charts. Other authors who missed out in the final cut included Deborah Levy, John Lancaster and Max Porter.
The final announcement of the freshly minted Booker Prize will be announced on 14thOctober.
