The Edna O’Brien Young Writers Award 2024 is open for applications now
Are you between 15 and 17 with a passion for writing? The Museum of Literature Ireland is now accepting applications from writers aged 15 – 17 for The Edna O’Brien Young Writers Award 2024.
15 successful applicants will be awarded a free place on a five-day creative writing retreat during the summer in Dublin, from 8 – 12 July 2024.
MoLI are not looking for polished, finished pieces of work or writers who have a lot of experience—the emphasis is on passion and creativity, and everyone is welcome to apply.
Young writers are mentored through a week-long creative writing programme by one of Ireland’s leading authors. During the week, the awardees also get to meet with publishers, authors, literature academics and fellow writers.
The Edna O’Brien Young Writers Award welcomes applications from young writers from all over Ireland and encourages applications from a diversity of ethnic and/or cultural groups including, but not limited to, Asian, Black, Traveller and minority ethnic, refugees, people with disabilities, working-class and LGBTQI+.
The closing date for applications is Tuesday, 5 March at 10 pm. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application on 9 May 2024.
The Edna O’Brien Young Writers Award is governed by MoLI’s Child Protection Policy.
