Red Line Book Festival is delighted to announce that writer Lisa Harding has been appointed as the festival’s inaugural Writer-in-Residence.
Harding was selected for the role following an open call for applications earlier this year and will begin the ten-week residency in August 2019.
Over the course of the residency, she will work alongside local communities in South Dublin County to explore the theme of Looking Up, with a view to collaborating on a piece that will be presented at the 2019 Red Line Book Festival, which returns October 7th – October 13th.
Lisa Harding’s critically acclaimed novel Harvesting (published by New Island Books) was awarded the Kate O’Brien Award, nominated for best newcomer at the Irish Book Awards and shortlisted for the Kerry group Irish Novel. The book has been optioned for film.
As well as being an author, Harding comes from a performance background and is a playwright. She has performed at the Abbey, the Gate, the Lyric, and the Manchester Library, among others. She received an MPhil in creative writing from Trinity College Dublin in 2014. Her short stories have been published in the Dublin Review, the Bath Short Story Anthology and HeadStuff. Her plays include Starving, And All Because, and Playground.
Commenting on the appointment, Lisa Harding said:
“I’m very honoured and excited to take on the role of the inaugural Writer-in-Residence and engage with groups and communities in South Dublin County. The Red Line Book Festival team were early supporters of my work, so it is fantastic to be involved in this new capacity.”
