The Breakthrough Award offers an entry-point into the world of publishing
Would you like a foot in the door of publishing but have no idea how to start? Do you come from an under-represented community or background? Publishing Ireland have launched The Breakthrough Award to offer a successful candidate the chance to see how the industry works, and gain insight and experience with publishing professionals.
The award includes free access to all Publishing Ireland events and training for a year, paid work placements with Irish publishers, a buddy system for launches and other events in autumn 2024, and a funded day trip to The London Book Fair.
Elena Browne of O’Brien Press, board member of Publishing Ireland said that no prior experience in the industry is required— only a passion for publishing and books.
“Our aim with this award is to open all the doors to anyone interested in working in the publishing industry in Ireland. Publishing is always enriched by a variety of voices and perspectives so we at Publishing Ireland want to actively invite in new unique creative voices.”
The closing date for applications is 02 September, 2024.
